Earth's Ultimate Adventure Travel

Travellers vote for the very best of our planet’s adventure travel destinations We all need at least one decent holiday a year, but all too often we settle for whatever is cheapest and easiest rather than ushing ourselves to find something more – find more in the world and discover more in ourselves in response. Adventure travel is all about getting off the beaten tracks and making some of our own. While cheap holidays to Tenerife are great for families and those simply wanting to soak up some sun, there’s a big old world out there waiting to be explored; mountains waiting to be climbed up and carved down, river rapids to be conquered and wildlife around every corner just waiting to reveal its beauty to us. A recent survey by adventure travel website AvidTrips found out the most-desired travel adventure destinations of the world. The following all featured prominently, with the Galapagos Islands taking first place in the desirability stakes… so where will you go first? Second overall in the adventure travel poll, the lesser populated South Island of New Zealand is a Mecca for those seeking an adrenalin rush from their travels. One of the world’s best, and safest, places to bungee jump, the island also offers travellers a huge range of other adventures. Wilderness trekking in one of the National Parks, whale-watching, skiing and snowboarding, zorbing, watersports… South Island offers just about everything an adventurer might want.Granted UNESCO World Heritage status back in 1983, Machu Picchu recently celebrated 100 years since its discovery by the American Hiram Bingham. The 15th-century Incan city in Peru sits almost 2,500 metres above sea level and thanks to extensive reconstruction work gives travellers a real insight into what life in the city might have once been like. Machu Picchu was voted the world’s third best adventure travel destination by travellers. The Galápagos Islands – Ecuador The Galàpagos Islands came first in the survey of adventure travel locations, thanks to the wealth of endemic wildlife there and the remote beauty of the landscape. Made famous by Charles Darwin, who studied the islands’ animals and plants while on the voyage of the Beagle, the Galapagos Islands are a genuine adventurer’s paradise. The island group is also a prime spot for another pulse-raising adventure of a lifetime: shark diving. Patagonia – Argentina & Chile Pulling in more than 3.7 million visitors a year, California’s Yosemite National Park covers over 760,000 acres, leaving enough room for everyone to explore without getting crowded out! The Park’s spectacular granite cliffs attract the world’s best climbers, and its landscapes, with their waterfalls and giant sequoia groves, attract anyone with the desire to be dwarfed and awed by nature. An adventure travel essential destination. Bora Bora – French Polynesia READ MORE...http://blog.beatthebrochure.com
