Black Sea Region

Departure Dates with minimum 2 passengers 2014: Apr 16, May 14, Jun 4, Jul 9, 30, Sep 3, 24 Tour from Cappadocia to Trabzon accross the North of Turkey otherwise known as the Black Sea. Visit Mount Nemrut and the magnificent funerary monument at the peake, the ancient city of Urfa where Abraham was born. Discover Diyarbakir with its city walls. Travel from Van along the Silk road via Dogubeyazit to the western edge of Mount Ararat. Than drive along the Pontic Alps to the northernmost bangs of the Eufrates river before finishing in Trabzon to discover the secrets of the Byzantine empire. Day 1: Wed Cappadocia –Kahta Depart from Cappadocia along the ancient Silk Road via Kayseri and stopping at Karatay Han before proceeding to Adiyaman.. Overnight in Khata. (D) Day 2 : Thu Kahta – Urfa Morning tour to the magnificent funerary monument at the peak of Mt Nemrut. After continue to the massive Ataturk Dam and on to Urfa, the ancient city of prophets, the birthplace of the biblical patriarch Abraham. See the cave and shrine where tradition tells us Abraham was born. Overnight in Urfa. (B,D) Day 3 Fri : Urfa - Diyarbakır In the morning depart Urfa to the ongoing archaeological dig at Gobekli Tepe, which is probably one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. After a stop conitnue to Diyarbekir, ancient settlement and one of the oldest cities in the world (5000 years old). It is well known for its ancient city walls; built by the Romans (after the great wall of China, the longest continuous defensive wall in the world.) Overnight in Diyarbekir.(B,D) Day 4 Sat : Diyarbakır – Mardin - Tatvan Morning depart to Mardin, located on a high hill overlooking the plains of southern Turkey and Syria. Visit the Saffron Monastery, centre of the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchy, which is a sacred place for hundreds of years. After lunch drive to Hasankeyf, by the Tigris River; soon to be submerged under the flood waters of a new dam on the Tigris, Hasankeyf has hundreds of caves, hidden waterways, tombs, a larger and smaller Palace, as well as ruins of the Great Mosque. After Hasankeyf drive to Tatvan. Dinner and overnight Tatvan . (B,D) Day 5 Sun : Diyarbakır – Tatvan – Van Morning departure to to Van via Akdamar Island where we visit the beautifully restored 10th Century Armenian Church of the Holy Cross.
