Ethnic Folklore Tours 1

China has been a unified multi-ethnic country with many different minorities since ancient time. Currently the officially confirmed number of ethnic groups is 55, except Han people. Due to their less population than Han people’s, customarily they are called ethnic minorities or Shaoshu Minzhu in Chinese pinyin. The peoples of China basically follow the principles or characteristics of mixed inhabitation in general and gathering inhabitation in part. They lived together and learned from one another for a long time. They are the important part of China and Chinese culture. They also leave us more intangible and visual heritages, such as folklore, music, custom, festivals, and architectures etc. Chinese ethnic minorities are less populous than Han people, but they are also living widely in China. They mostly live in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Ningxia, Guangxi, Tibet, Yunnan, Guizhou, Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Liaoning, Jilin, Hunan, Hubei, Hainan, Taiwan and so on. Generally the largest number of ethnic peoples is living in Yunnan Province; totally there are 25 ethnic groups. Their long-standing but unique ethnic culture is always attracting many culture lovers.
